Announcement from Better Blood Use: Case 6 and 7

The final management commentary for Case 6 was posted on Friday and the patient presentation for Case 7 was posted yesterday.

Case 7 is a 112 year-old male was admitted with shortness of breath and placed on broad spectrum antibiotic coverage. The hemoglobin on admission is 11.4 gm/dL and declined to 8.3 gm/dL, 78 hours post-admission. This case should stimulate discussion about appropriate transfusion and patient care in elderly patients.
